Junior Travel Ambassadors
The school currently has 12 Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) who are from Year 4 and Year 5.
They are responsible for promoting safe travel to school and active travel. They encourage walking where possible so that we can help our environment.
They meet with Mrs Ripley every half-term. They lead whole school competitions, worships and exciting promotion days. If you have any ideas about how we can support with travel, please come and talk to us our names are on the JTA notice board by Mr Harris's office.
Look Up Competition:
This was an art competition run by First News. Children had to create a poster promoting the dangers of using a mobile phone whilst walking to school. We had lots of entries from our school, unfortunately no one had their designs picked for the campaign.
Road Safety Workshops:
Years 1 - 6 have received road safety workshops. They learnt about the laws that are part of road safety, where safe crossing places were, who could help them cross the road and about the Green Cross Code. The sessions were very engaging, and the children enjoyed the mixture of activities that were provided.
Active Travel Art Competition:
This was a competition organised by the JTAs. The children had to create a poster showing what they had observed whilst walking to school.
Walk to School Week
The whole school completed Walk to School Week. Lots of schools across the country promoted walking to school. This is a great way to stay active whilst helping the planet.
Morning Survey
On the 24th May, the JTAs completed a survey. They arrived at school early and counted cars. The children also identified whether cars were parking safely. I am happy to report that we only counted 54 cars!
