Leading Lights
Currently, 28 pupils at Bishop John Robinson CofE Primary School are following our Leading Lights program, and regularly assist with acts of collective worship, prayer and reflection.
The program helps pupils to explore their understanding of faith and to engage further with their own ideas, whilst growing a deeper understanding of the Christian faith.
There are 3 awards within the program, each building to support pupils to plan, prepare, lead and evaluate acts of worship. Each award has four units:
- Gathering: understanding how and why we come together to worship corporately, suggesting and developing themes for worship, and planning and leading an act of collective worship, as well as create a space for pupils and staff to find a spiritual moment.
- Engaging: understanding how spaces can be used for worship, discussing the items, symbols and artefacts used to support worship and designing spaces for further worship
- Responding: understanding how people might talk with God, how to support pupils and adults to prepare for times of worship and creating stimuli for prayer.
- Reflecting: researching and writing different prayers to offer during worship, understanding how music can add to moments of worship and selecting material from CofE Anglican worship to use in school (e.g. collects, liturgy etc.)
